The moon is part of the solar system. It moves around the Earth all the time. For this, the Moon was even nicknamed the Earth's satellite. What do you think the word satellite means?

The Earth attracts the Moon to itself and does not allow it to move away. The Moon is much smaller than the Sun and smaller than the Earth. The surface of the Moon is covered with the finest sand and lunar dust.
The fact is, guys, that there is no air at all on the Moon. And you and I know that wind is the movement of air. If there was a wind blowing on the Moon, then these footprints... Let's see what would happen to them. How can you create wind? That's right, blow. ( Children blow, the traces disappear)
. Now let's look at the adjacent sheet. Due to the fact that there is no wind on the Moon, the footprints of the astronauts will remain on it forever.
And on the surface of the moon there are high mountains, much higher than on Earth (puts plasticine mountains) on the model and deep holes (craters). There are no such deep depressions on Earth. Scientists have found that they were formed from the fall of meteorites on the surface of the planet. Let's try to see how this happens.
Experience:

There is not only no air on the Moon, but also no water. Think about whether living beings live there? Why?

Why is the Moon always visible from only one side?
There is no secret here: the periods of revolution of the Moon around its own axis and around the Earth are the same, and for this reason the Moon faces the Earth all the time with only one side. In other words, the Moon “turns” at the same speed as it “flies” in our sky, so at the same moment in time we can observe the same picture on its surface.
At the same time, it is not entirely correct to say that we see “one side” of our planet’s satellite - in fact, about 59% of the Moon’s surface is visible from the earth, that is, almost two-thirds of the lunar disk. We call that part of the Moon that is not visible to an observer from Earth the far side of the Moon .

Composition of the Moon's surface - an explanation for children
Parents or at school can explain to the youngest children that our satellite is a rocky world. It has many craters created by asteroid impacts millions of years ago. Since there is no weather there, they are preserved in their original form.
This image of the lunar surface was taken by Apollo 10 astronauts in May 1969.
Composition by weight: oxygen (43%), silicon (20%), magnesium (19%), iron (10%), calcium (3%), aluminum (3%), chromium (0.42%), titanium (0.18% ) and manganese (0.12%).
Traces of water were found on the lunar surface, which could have appeared from the depths. Also, hundreds of pits were found there, where there were devices that had been on the satellite for a long period of time.
Why do they say that there are seas and oceans on the Moon?
We used to call the dark areas of the surface of the Moon that we can see from Earth “lunar seas.” In fact, of course, these “seas” do not contain (and never did contain) water, and the sonorous names came to us from antiquity, when ancient astronomers thought that the Moon, like the Earth, had its own seas and oceans.
In fact, the dark areas of the Moon's surface were formed as a result of volcanic eruptions and are filled with basaltic deposits that appear much darker than the surrounding rocks.

Once upon a time there lived an Architect of the Universe who created all the planets and stars. One day he sent his assistants, winged builders, to find out if everyone was happy with his work.
“I like everything,” said Planet Earth, “but I’m bored, I have no one to talk about my space problems with.”
“Ah,” the astronomer sighed, “everything is fine, but the stars and other planets are so far away that I couldn’t see anything with my telescope, which means I was in vain learning to count, measure and observe.”
“At night, when I have to compose, I feel very sad,” the poet mourned, “nothing inspires me!”
“Nothing but a monotonous horizon pleases us when our husbands and brothers go fishing,” said the women of the fishing village on the seashore. – We lose track of the days, everything is always the same.
“And I,” said the little girl, “are scared when after sunset it becomes dark and dark, and the stars are so small that their light is still not enough.”

And the women of the fishing village watched the ebb and flow of the tides, and it seemed to them that the waiting time had become shorter.
But the little girl was most happy: she was not afraid after sunset. Now every night the Moon smiled at her from the dark sky!

The glow that a person sees is a reflection of the light of the sun: the sun brightly illuminates the Moon like a very powerful flashlight and it seems that it is burning in the middle of the dark night sky. In addition, even without a telescope, it is noticeable that the Moon is different every day: it can take the shape of a saucer or a sickle. The secret of such changes is that the Earth blocks the sun from the Moon and the light does not fall on the entire Moon, but illuminates only its side.
The moon does not always appear at night. Sometimes the Moon can be seen in the sky during the day. This happens because the Moon revolves around the Earth and the time of its appearance does not always coincide with the night. During the day, the Moon appears as a large white spot in the sky.
The surface of the Moon is not at all similar to the Earth's. There are not only no forests, rivers and seas, there is not even soil. The entire moon is covered with a thick layer of tightly compacted dust. This dust always remains dry, because there is no water on the Moon.
There is no atmosphere on the surface of the Moon. If a person lands on the moon without a spacesuit, he will immediately die from lack of air. The temperature on the Moon is also unsuitable for humans, as it ranges from −160 °C to +120 °C. No clothing can save you from such changes from heat to cold.
On a clear night, when clouds do not cover the sky, you can see dark spots on the moon’s disk with the naked eye - these are mountains and craters formed by meteorites falling on the Moon. The surprising thing is that, despite rotating around its axis, the Moon always faces the Earth with the same side. From the surface of the Earth there is no way to see what is happening on the far side of the satellite. The map of the far side of the Moon was compiled only thanks to photographs from research aircraft.
Like the Earth, the Moon has gravity. The gravity of the Moon is so strong that it can affect the water of the Earth's seas and oceans. It is the Moon that causes ebbs and flows on Earth, attracting water to itself.

Is there water on the Moon?

There is an atmosphere on the Moon - this is a fact, but it is so highly discharged that it can easily be ignored - this is also a fact.
One of the sources of the lunar atmosphere are gases that are released from the lunar crust, such gases include radon gas. Another source of gases in the lunar atmosphere are gases released when the lunar surface is bombarded by micrometeorites and the solar wind.
Due to the weak magnetic and gravitational field of the Moon, almost all gases from the atmosphere escape into outer space.
Where did the Moon come from?
There are several theories to explain the formation of the Moon. Until recently, the main assumption of scientists was that the Moon was formed as a result of centrifugal forces at the early stage of the formation of the Earth. As a result of the action of these forces, part of the earth's crust was thrown into outer space and from this part the Moon was formed. Due to the fact that, as scientists believe, throughout the history of the Earth, our planet has never had a sufficient rotation speed to confirm this theory, this point of view on the process of formation of the Moon is currently considered outdated.
Another theory suggests that the Moon formed separately from the Earth, and was subsequently simply captured by the Earth's gravitational field.
The third theory explains that both the Earth and the Moon were formed from a single protoplanetary cloud and the process of their formation took place simultaneously.
Although the above three theories of the formation of the Moon explain its origin, they all contain certain contradictions. The dominant theory of the formation of the Moon today is the theory of a giant collision of the proto-Earth with a celestial body the size of the planet Mars.
