Do you want, do you want...
But the point, comrades, is
That first of all, you are parents,
And everything else - later!
Good evening, dear parents and teachers!
My name is Denisova Marina Viktorovna, I am a teacher of additional education at the Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren in the city of Kursk. I work on the general educational developmental program “Children-Road-Life” with primary school students in city schools and in particular, school No. 27. In our classes, my children and I study the types of traffic lights, the rules for crossing the road according to traffic lights, at a pedestrian crossing, at an uncontrolled intersection, we get acquainted with road signs, traffic controller signals, and rules of behavior in transport. 80% of our classes take place in a playful way.
My speech is dedicated to a very important issue - teaching our children safe behavior skills on the road. How to teach your child traffic rules? How to ensure that he follows these rules? What can you, parents, do about this?
Road safety is one of the important tasks of our country. According to the World Health Organization, road deaths of children as a result of road traffic accidents are consistently among the top ten causes of death. Every year more than 20,000 people die on the streets and roads of the country. For comparison, the population of the city of Kursk is 440 thousand people, the city of Rylsk is 16 thousand people. It’s scary to imagine that an entire city seems to perish in a year. Data on road accidents involving children sound especially scary.
SLIDE.
We present to your attention official statistics on the consequences of road accidents in Russia.
As we can see, there is a decrease in the number of road accidents in the country. A similar situation exists in Kursk, but despite this, over six months of 2021, 669 road accidents occurred in our city, in which 83 people died and 876 were injured of varying degrees of severity. There were 74 road accidents involving children and teenagers under 16 years of age, in which 1 minor was killed and 77 were injured.
Three quarters of all road accidents involving children occur as a result of the ill-considered actions of children themselves.
Parents' task
— timely teach children the ability to navigate traffic situations, cultivate the need to be disciplined on the street, careful and prudent.
Many parents, concerned about their children, resort to various methods: verbose warnings, notations, and sometimes even use punishment in their upbringing practices. Such methods are unlikely to give the expected effect. But patience and perseverance are effective means of ensuring the success of a business.
The work of teaching children the rules of the road is a long-term job. And if we also provide children with theoretical knowledge at school, then their practical application is your job, dear parents.
Parents need to avoid making the most common mistake - acting on the principle “you can do it with me.” If you show your child by your own example how to run to red, be sure that when left alone, he will try to repeat this trick. Dear parents! Remember, if you break the Rules, your child will do the same! We have the power to develop the skills of safe behavior on the roads, to educate a conscious and competent pedestrian, responsible for the life and health of road users.
The process of learning traffic rules should not be reduced to an empty and useless phrase: “Be careful on the road.” She does not explain to the child what exactly he should be afraid of on the road. Make better use of your walks together to practice road behavior skills: discuss difficult situations on the road with your children, show them, explain. Surely many children already go to school on their own. Have you discussed with your child a safe route from home to school? Your task is to walk this path together with your child, look at it from a safety point of view and draw up a route diagram on paper.

Remember, this route should not necessarily be the shortest, not necessarily the fastest, but definitely the safest for your child.
Parents should also remember the following rules:
- Teach your child to walk calmly, slowly, across the road, along the sidewalk.
- Draw his attention to the fact that in front of the road, bushes, fences, houses, standing cars can hide a moving car behind them!
- Explain to your child that when approaching the road, talking should be stopped because it distracts from observation. Under no circumstances should you listen to music or talk on the phone while walking on the sidewalk, and especially when crossing the road. Is it dangerous!
- Teach your child not to go around a stationary bus, either in front or behind! We have to wait until the bus leaves. It’s better to walk to the nearest pedestrian crossing.
- Explain to your child that even at a traffic light there can be danger! Therefore, you should not only wait for the green light, but also make sure that all cars have stopped.
- There is no need to instill in children an excessive sense of fear of traffic and moving cars. If you reprimand a child, do it kindly. Let the child associate everything connected with school, including the road, with brightness and kindness.
- And most importantly, winter is a dangerous time of year. In winter, there are 3 times more accidents. In blizzards and snow, visibility on the road deteriorates for both pedestrians and drivers. The road is slippery and the car's braking distance increases. In winter, the morning dawns later, it gets dark early, and our children are forced to walk along the road at dusk. Therefore, you should check if they have reflective elements on their clothing (flickers). This is the only real way today to protect a child from injury on an unlit road. Check if there are similar elements on your child's clothes or backpack. Otherwise, purchase stickers, badges, pendants, bracelets, etc., you can purchase special reflective fabric and make some product with your child that will protect your child on the road. According to experts, the use of flickers reduces childhood injuries by 6 and a half times.

Winter fun can also be very dangerous. Introduce children to the rules of behavior on the slide; do not allow them to ride down the slide, which is located near the roadway or pond. Warn your children that falling icicles can cause injury.
So, if you teach your children to follow these basic rules of behavior on the roads, and most importantly, do not break them yourself, trouble will never come to your home.
I bring to your attention a list of useful Internet sites on traffic rules, with the help of which you can spend interesting and useful time with your children.

Surely your children play computer games. So let these games be useful. By order of the Department of Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, a computer game was developed for schoolchildren under the apt and symbolic name “NOT A GAME!”
In conclusion, it is worth noting that the success of preventing child road traffic injuries largely depends on the consciousness, personal culture and discipline of the parents themselves. Dear moms and dads! A child is a blank sheet of paper on which you can write all the good and bad. Let only good things be written on your sheet. Cultivate in your child the habit of being attentive, careful and prudent on the street. Remember that the life and health of your child depends on your culture of behavior on the street. Take the time to teach your children how to behave on the road. Wish you luck!
